This blog is for Jim Marventano's family and friends to review his status and updates while he goes through treatment for Stage IV Colon Cancer. We can beat it together!

Oh yeah...
Jim hated water chestnuts. He thought the texture was gross.
Add beans to the list. I made everyone a pasta casserole and a chicken dish from Cooking Light when Mom and I were there at Easter, and he pushed all the cannellini beans to the side one night and the lima beans to the side the next. I looked over and said "Hey, that's the part that's good for your colon!" He scrunched up his nose at me just like Mom does when she's annoyed at you.
I'm not a fan of water chestnuts either until you wrap it in a piece of bacon and stick a toothpick in it and then it transforms into something wonderful :0) Deb
Kate- My dad sent me this poem and I thought I'd pass it on. Maybe you have heard it but I liked it.
It's winter in Wisconsin And the gentle breezes blow Seventy-five miles an hour At twenty-five below Oh, how I love Wisconsin When the snow's up to your butt You take a breath of winter And your nose gets frozen shut. Yes the weather here is wonderful So I guess I'll hang around I could never leave Wisconsin 'Cause I'm frozen to the ground.

Hilarious poem and unfortunately so so true!

Christine-
I laughed out loud when I read this poem. Right now my garage is literally frozen shut and I can't get my trash out to the curb.
They've stopped salting the roads here - we're driving on a solid 2 inches of ice and snow, and they just sprinkle sand on it for a little traction.
We are waist deep in snow and expecting more on Monday.
But it is sunny!
